Engine drivetrain: M117 5.0 liter V8 (177 kW / 241 hp). New water pump and fan clutch. Engine runs smooth and no sigh of blow-by or overheating however engine burns oil. Valve covers off reveals worn lobes on camshaft (driver’s side), damaged cam-chain guide rail and loose cam chain. Mechanic recommends head rebuild and new cam chain and associated parts (est. $5k).

Interior: Black leather seats (heated front). Rear jump-seats for 7-passenger seating. Nice shape.

Exterior: Amethystblau Metallic (paint code 5338) unique to the Jubilee edition. Assorted bumps and bruises. Some rust – front bumper and a couple bubbles in rear fender. Cracks on both front fender flares.

Options include stainless bull bar; auxiliary winch and rear jump-seats – please see build sheet for full details.

History: Introduced in the Spring of 1993, the 500GE / G500 ushered in the era of the V8 Geländewagen. Production limited to just 500 units – 350 of which feature the distinctive Amethystblau Metallic seen here. This elevated the G in terms of luxury and power – employing the 5.0 liter M117 engine with engineering involvement of AMG.

Unusual to see one with the needs present here, but interesting option for someone who wants to build to their own specifications.
