2001 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA Spec C GDB-011453 w/ ~70k mi / 105,700 km

Interesting period rally build – full cage; semi stripped interior with hard-back seats; full cage; and protective skidplates; OMP rear wing.

The Impreza STi Type RA Spec C is an interesting package with factory DCCD center differential; rooftop vent and lightweight chassis. While this is not a numbered limited edition, production is estimated to be just 378 units.

This particular example has some wear from it’s life as a rally-car. We intend to license in Japan to get some use out of it and may replace the front fenders and ensure maintenance is up to date prior to import late 2026 – in which case, the price is likely to be adjusted to reflect this expense.

This is a special model. Maybe it’s something you want!

Price shown FOB Kanagawa, Japan. Worldwide shipping available. USA buyers – storage available until eligible for USA import. RoRo shipping approx. $1800 to most USA ports + IMPORT FEES (15% Duty / $350 broker / $125 terminal / ~$180 steamship). Price subject to change.

(with 17 inch tyres)

[Product outline]

1.Increased manoeuvrability through reduced weight

Designed for competitive use, the chassis has been lightened, and compared to the normal STi type RA, it is 90kg lighter, increasing manoeuvrability.

<Summary of key lightened items>

Unused parts

Front sub-frame, tunnel insulator, Drivers and Passenger side airbags, Seatbelt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX seatbelt lower anchor hook, Drivers seat frame link, trunk trim, trunk mat, high mounted brake light etc.

Changed items

Lightened loop panel and trunk lid, lightened glass, shrunk drivers seat side support wires, reduced fuel tank volume (60L->50L), reduced window washer tank volume (4L->3L) etc.

Change in production method

Front bumper beam, steering beam, door beams, rear diff mount system etc.

2.Increasing Engine Power

By increasing the efficiency of the turbocharger and cylinders aspiration, we increased torque by 11Nm (1.2Kg-m) for a total of 384Nm (39.2Kg-m) and at the same time sharpened engine response and increased engine performance.

By changing the turbocharger axle bearing to a ball-bearing, we have reduced the rotational friction and achieved a sharp turbo charging response.

By improving the intake manifold we have reduced air intake resistance and increased the aspiration efficiency leading to a higher combustion efficiency. Additionally, we have increased the intake and outlet valves lift and adjusted the outlet valves open and close timing and utilized a custom ECU in order to achieve a higher level of torque in times of acceleration and allowed for a sharp engine response at high revolutions.

3. Improved Chassis Performance
By adjusting the suspension geometry, the driving balance and control have increased to a higher level respectively, engendering better turning characteristics.

By changing the angle of the front casters, we have improved the contact with the road during turning. By upwardly adjusting the rear trailing arms front edge attachment position we have changed the posture of the car, increasing turning performance.

By increasing the strength of the connection of the front cross member to the body, and by modifying the materials used in the front bumper beam, we have been successful in increasing the front end rigidity and by using a cross performance rod for the mid-section of the front cross member lower arm, we have increased the lateral rigidity of the suspension and improved the drivability.

By changing the play in the springs, we have lowered the body by 10mm, reducing the center of gravity and matched the springs to the reduced weight chassis, thus enabling an improvement in handling.

By modifying the rear stabilizer link from resin to plate metal materials, we have improved the body response to roll.

We used tyres with superior characteristics to regular tyres, the Potenza RE070. This improves both the wet, dry and breaking performance to a whole new level and improves control and drivability.

4.Improving the reliability of a race bred chassis

We have envisaged use under harsh conditions, and improved the reliability and performance of the race bred chassis.

We have increased the intercooler water spray tank to triple the original capacity (3.8L->12L) and optimized the spray patterns to enable longer continuous spraying, increasing the cooling capacity of the intercooler.

The intercooler water spray tank has been moved from the engine bay to the front of the trunk in order to reduce the moment of yaw, and by making the tank wider, we have been able to reduce the center of gra

In order to provide stable provision of fuel during cornering, a sub chamber has been added to the fuel pump input valve.

In all models, the rear diff used is a mechanical LSD, enabling greater traction capability.
