Porsche 911 GT3 (996.1) was developed to homologate the water-cooled 911 for FIA GT3 class racing. Total production of the mk1 version totaled 1868 units of which 20% were Clubsport specification. The GT3 is powered by the ‘Mezger’ motor developed for the Porsche Motorsport 962 & GT1 race-cars. Retaining the air-cooled engine cases and dry-sump lubrication, and featuring titanium connecting rods. In addition to the Motorsport engine and carry-over transaxle, the 996.1 GT3 features distinctive aero; larger brakes; lightweight wheels; lower ride-height & retuned suspension; elimination of most sound-deadening; no rear seat or rear speakers; no sunroof; thinner glass and numerous interior trim differences from the regular 996. The GT3 Mk1 has the distinct honor of being the last 911 street version that was built entirely by hand at Porsche Motorsport in Weissach.

Like the the Carrera 2.7 RS before it – where both Touring and Lightweight cars were offered – the GT3 was offered in Comfort and Clubsport versions. This is one of ~375 Clubsport produced (996.1 / 1999-2001). Engine features a single-mass flywheel and the interior is further stripped of unnecessary luxury for increased performance and safety on track.
